Just under a week ago I flew from Brasil to London and then out to Maui to attend the 2008 Naish Surf House Maui. The house is for National riders to learn more about the products of Naish and gather together as much footage in the form of video and photos as possible. There are 14 riders in total all staying in 2 adjoining houses and every morning around 8am preparations begin for the day. Everyday we have had wind of sorts and so we have been shooting everyday. Some riders head to the waves, others to flatter water and then perhaps others for lifestyle to. The weather has been a mix of sunshine and showers but brilliantly enough it has also been 7m weather whenever the wind does blow in.
The feeling of being in Maui is something else. I didn't know what to expect as I had heard mixed opinions and wasn't sure whether there was just a big hype about the place, but seriously the vibe is unreal. The waves are beautiful, the waterfalls stunning and the scenery surreal. Its easy to become too focused on getting the photos you want and to forget that this is actually the pacific ocean, but when you take a step back you really do find paradise. By the end of the week I shall have a great write up on the trip illustrated with some good photos.
Will keep you posted
